Taking care of your skin doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive—it’s all about making the right choices for your unique needs. Whether you’re battling dryness, wondering if pricey creams are worth it, or just looking for everyday tips to boost your glow, this guide has you covered. Let’s explore simple, effective ways to nurture your skin and let your natural beauty shine!

How can I make my skin better? Wash it with a gentle soap, look after cuts and grazes with an anti-septic ointment, use a little bit of good cream every time you wash your hands, avoid conditions that damage your skin. Do I need expensive skincare to make my skin look better? Soaps that do not remove your natural skin oil are better. Look for a soap that will counter the harsh effects of pollution, detergents, and hard water. Do I need expensive creams? No, oil, tallow or lard will help to make your skin feel more comfortable. Look for creams that have a high content of fat or oils. Special creams that contain ingredients like Urea, MSM (Methylsulfanylmethane, a natural anti-inflammatory), waxes or oils are even better. The ingredients help to fight infections and preserve the oils and moisture (water) in your skin. Why is my skin so dry? Your skin is a ridiculously hard -working part of your body. Skin is your first line of defence against diseases, viruses, and dehydration. Your skin is like the natural wax- wrap of your body. Hydration inside, harmful bacteria outside. Skin is precious, even though everyone was issued with one. It really needs to be managed with care to look at its best. Hot water, harsh detergents, hard water, prolonged exposure to the elements strip away the outer ‘barrier’. This causes your skin to lose the moisture that was there earlier, causing it to look dried out or feel uncomfortable. Is water good for my skin? No, if you stay in the water too long. Being in water for more than 20 minutes, dries out the skin. It does not really make sense but think about your cell phone and water. If you drop your phone quickly in water, it may still be okay. You can dry it well and it could be fine. Let your phone stay in the water for an hour and the water seeps into every nook and cranny. Drying it carefully will not save it. Just like your cell phone, a little water is okay on your skin, but a long exposure to water is not ideal. Your skin will have a better chance to recover from being in water (submerged) if the outer layer is not damaged. You can protect your skin with a thick layer of fat or grease, if you are planning to spend a long time in water. Although fat or grease will work, you may look and smell a bit different and leave grease stains on your sofa! So, when taking a bath try to limit it to 20 minutes, as longer than that will make your skin dry out more than it should. Yes, if you drink it or wash with it. Can you feel a difference in your mouth if you do not drink enough water? Just like your mouth feels dry, your skin can also feel dry. But if you make sure you drink at least eight glasses of water a day, you should be okay. It is also good to wash your hands regularly, especially after visiting the toilet or before working with food. Have a bath at least once a day with clean water to smell good. Using soap or a body wash makes the entire process nicer and easier. You need to wash off all the old skin cells, not to mention the dirt. Be grateful that you do not have to share your space with people that wash only once a month, or once a season. You see, you have a lot to be grateful for!

Is a hot bath bad for my skin? Try to make sure your skin does not dry out by using too hot water when taking a shower or having a bath. If your skin is compromised, meaning it has been damaged in some way or have some eczema or patches of irritation, hot water will make it much worse. And by compromised, I do not mean being caught in a tricky situation. Your skin may be sensitive after having been exposed to harsh wind, too much sun or harsh chemicals. These situations are setting the stage for skin reacting quickly and feeling drier than usual, when exposed to hot water. Is a cold bath bad for my skin? I do not recommend you bath in cold water when it is cold! Try to match the temperature of your bath to your body temperature. Chilly water is not bad for your body. Lukewarm (tepid) water is good for rinsing your face and neck area. Warm water can be used for the rest of your body. Interestingly, alternating warm and chilly water can also be used to refresh your skin and make you feel more awake. It is essential to look after your body, by nourishing your skin and keeping it clean.
